A subject that gives us all a bit of a headache at times….

09 Mar 2020

Dear LPG,

I have a subject that gives me a bit of a headache which I want to talk a little about today, and I cannot be alone because you only have to step into a chemist to see so many remedies designed to deal with them.   I am lucky because I don’t often suffer from a headache, but I have a friend who is prone to them and, while some people can live with them as they get on with their lives, others find that they take over and whole days are lost to them…

Either I am lucky, I have a low pain threshold or I don’t get very bad ones because I woke up with one this morning and can feel its effects right now.  It is a little inconvenient but I am working through it by distracting myself as I look up a bit about what the internet has to say.

I never knew that there were so many different types of headache and that so much research has been done about them. I don’t get them as often as I used to but I think that so many people reach for some sort of off-the-shelf medication which often is causing some other adverse symptom, so I thought I would try to find out what else you can do.  I have a theory that if you are just sitting and suffering you are giving pain a better opportunity to take hold, and that if you can concentrate on doing anything else, it will give you something else to focus on instead of the pain.

While looking online I found some interesting advice which it would be a shame not to share, the acupressure advice is quite interesting and I will be giving that a go.

I think that the best fact of all is that as you get older you are less likely to suffer from them which can only be a good thing and it would be really unfair of me not to share my findings.
