Something to do while ‘Self-Isolating’

06 Apr 2020

Dear LPG,

I am writing this letter because it is giving me something to do while I am busy ‘Self Isolating’.  I live in a sheltered accommodation and after just three days of taking my exercise by way of a walk around the corridors of the building, and making sure that I avoid all my neighbours, I have already had enough of my own company.

I have to say that the three days seems like well over a week in spite of the shopping deliveries my son has left outside my door and the phone calls I have had lots of time to catch up with.

This situation that we find ourselves in at the moment is really hard for those who, regardless of their age, aches and pains really appreciate the freedom to get out and about when the urge takes them, and from what I understand the so called coronavirus ‘lock down’ has barely started.

This is what I am experiencing and I know that it is getting to many of the friends that I have been phoning, so I have no doubt that nearly all of Britain’s elders, and indeed elders all over the world, are beginning to feel the effects too.

For want of something to do, I thought it a good idea to put my feelings down on paper because it then at least feels as if I have achieved something.  I just hope that LPG will feel my little message worth publishing.
