Staying cool when the heat is not going away!

02 Sep 2020

Dear LPG,

We are a contrary people we spend all winter looking forward to a nice hot summer and when it arrives we can’t cope.   Does anyone else out there in internet land agree that while Covid-19 is, dare I say, becoming manageable after all this time, the heat of our summer is truly getting to us?  It is quite sad really because I know that I will be really upset when it gets cold again and we have to spend lots of money on heating.

I think that many pensioners have made the decision to continue to stay at home even though the government is hinting at the fact that we now should be able to manage an occasional venture out with the help of social-distancing and staying masked up, but as we older people keep being reminded, we are one of the most susceptible groups and the virus has not actually gone anywhere.

But the heat of the summer is becoming a challenge in itself and I think such a long hot spell is resulting in my becoming more lethargic, resulting in my getting less and less done each day.  Then I find myself unsatisfied because of how little I have achieved, and tired because of my inability to sleep at night when it is so hot.

So, even though I know there have been other articles on the subject I have been googling to find any new information, or information I might have missed, on the subject of keeping cool at night, and would like to share it in case there is any information that might have been missed by LPG readers.
