Ladies, the letters will stop coming but you should keep going…

18 Oct 2020

Dear LPG,

I was watching my television the other morning and I was reminded of something that many ladies are used to being reminded about via letter.

The letter will remind you about the fact that it would be to your advantage to have a mammogram test, but once you are seventy the posted reminders that three years have passed since you were last invited to have a breast test stop coming.  The point is that just the lack of a written invitation does not mean that you are not entitled to, or encouraged to have the test anyway.

Any lady who reads LPG is likely to remember what they are like. My recollection is quite uncomfortable, and some might say even painful, but once you have got that second letter which confirms that your result is negative and everything is OK, there has to be a sense of breathing out with relief.

I was lucky enough to be reminded on the television but just in case there are any readers who missed that broadcast, but managed to read this, I feel the need to pass the message on…

HC. Ladywell.

LPG found some information on arranging a test if you have no invitation letter, and just in case there are any ladies who have never been for one before, LPG has found a short film to show what to expect when being tested...
