Happy Happiness day!

20 Mar 2021

Dear LPG,

I would like to start by saying that I am writing my message about eight months in advance of when I would like LPG to share it.  Like so many people, I have seen it written on your pages quite a lot recently that many of the readers who decide to submit messages referred to notes letters and other writings that they rediscovered or found during spring cleaning sessions that would have not happened but for the 2020 Spring lockdown.

I found this note which was sent to me by a friend a long time ago, and which reads…

Be Happy.

Happiness cannot be measured in terms of money or assets,

Happiness comes to those who are content with what they have

Happiness comes to those who are generous

Happiness comes to those who put other people before things

Happiness is when you wake up in the morning and find that life still covers your world through family and friends you truly care about and who never fail to remember you

Money can lead to unhappiness

Money can be the root of evil (or at least the love of money)

Money can lead to worry and sleepless nights

Money can lead to grief and disappointment

Money can lead to frustration and cannot often buy love or happiness

Find a reason to smile each day and…

Be Happy.

I have asked LPG to post this message today, even though there will have been such a big gap since the time that I wrote it, because the United Nations Assembly have named this day the International Day of Happiness.  I think that in spite of its odd metre the bit of writing I found could be viewed as a poem and I cannot think of a more suitable time for LPG to post it.

All too often, too many of us forget the many reasons that we have to be happy and I wanted to remind everyone to spare a thought for the happier aspects of their lives.

AH, Hither Green

In the light of AH’s message LPG has left links to a little history…
