...the voice of pensioners

A day to combat any whisper of halitosis.

05 Aug 2021

Dear LPG,

I read an article on your pages not so long ago about how we can improve our lung capacity and what a difference learning to breathe a little more deeply can make to our health, (►►►) and while taking a look at some other information on the subject I stumbled upon the fact that August 6th is National Fresh Breath day.

‘That’s an interesting one’ I thought, but then it struck me that the only person who often does not realise that their breath could be a little fresher is the person who is exhaling it, and it is often something that no one will tell you about; not even close friends. The young are so conscious of the shade of white that greets the person opposite when they open their mouths to smile, and while the implants go in at great cost and the television adverts tell us all about getting those pearly whites whiter, but without ‘smell-o-vision’, so much less emphasis is placed on fresh breath.

The internet also suggested that National Fresh Breath day is a day to share the mints, and ponder a little more upon if your breath might be the reason that you are offered so many, if indeed you are.

All this internet research into bad breath got me thinking about how you can tell if yours is OK without soliciting the help of your friends and what you can do to improve the way the breath that emanates from your mouth affects its nasal destination of choice.

I found some interesting videos and thought that if you plan to check yours, this is the day to do it.

So I offer readers a few internet alternatives to take into consideration as you put the toothbrush down and get the Listerine swirling around your mouths.
