An eye story with possible exercises…

21 Sep 2021

Dear LPG,

I know that, to readers that have read what I have written to you before, it must appear that I am completely obsessed with eyes, and I suppose that the fact that I do not have perfect vision might have something to do with my interest in what I can do with the pair that God gave me.

I have always been short sighted and can remember being too full of pride to be seen wearing glasses when I was young.  My spelling suffered quite a bit because I could not see the blackboard at school properly, but the school eye test brought the problem home to me in the end.

I suppose that I was thought of as a bit of a drip when I was at secondary school.  I can’t remember the names that were used all that time ago, but if you think of the modern words, I suppose school mates would have labelled me as the class geek or nerd.   I was a bit of a study but, in films the brainier and more unpopular students nearly always wear glasses, so I just learned to do without the frames which I think made my eyes worse.

When I go to the internet these days, I browse a lot of subjects but somehow always end up finding my way to eye-related websites and posts, and I found a few ‘at home’ eye exercises which are thought to improve your eyesight over time, and at the time of life that most LPG readers have reached, I suspect that any improvement in what vision we have left can only be a good thing.

I suspect that my eye epistle is not unique, so I have asked LPG to post this message at this time because this week is National Eye Health week.   Even though I do wear my glasses these days, my eyes have been through the best part of a lifetime of abuse which is reflected in the thickness of the lenses, but I am having a go at a few of the exercises I have come across and, would like to share my findings with my fellow readers.

It may well be a bit late in the day for people of our age and I can’t say that I can see a difference yet, but you never know…

ES, Camberwell.

LPG would like to mention the comment in one of the videos that ES mentions as we note that it may well be a good idea to check with your optician before starting such a course of exercise.

ES shares what he has learned…
