Becoming more attractive to your goals…

11 Jun 2021

Dear LPG,

About 10 years ago now a friend of mine introduced me to the ‘law of attraction’.  At the time, I did not take a lot of notice of what she was alluding to but over the past year or so I have. Like so many other people in this lockdown world we have become part of, I have found that relative solitude has forced me to look at the life I am living and realise that I am not overly happy with the situation that I find myself in.

I think that the thing that I am missing is focus. I am not particularly unhappy with my life in anyway but, now that I have had time to really think about it, I have worked out that since I retired, I am not actually aiming for anything or focussing on anything that I would like to achieve in the future.

This brought me back to the ideas that my friend stirred in me all that time ago and spurred me on to looking on the internet.  I have to say that there are now many books’ videos and even courses developed to explain this so-called law, and most of them appear to be aimed at younger people who are looking for riches, vocational success and a positive family experience.  While we older people have done most of that by the time this website interests us, my year of thought has taught me that no matter how old you are there are usually still a few things that we want to do once this is all over and I know that, while I am not planning to say what I want to aspire to, my succeeding is not unachievable financially or physically, although I know that it will be a challenge.

I suspect that my thoughts on my situation are not unique, and while there is still a little time left before we are all set free from self-isolation perhaps a little insight into how this all works might be beneficial to some readers. Put as simply as possible, it all works on the premise that if you can imagine yourself having already achieved your goal and look back on how you did it you are halfway there.

That is the extremely simple version of the fundamental principle behind this whole idea, but with a little time left at home I thought it might be something worth introducing to these pages just in case it helps a few more readers achieve their goals.
