What is the bet that you are still part of the OOPS Club?

23 Jun 2021

Dear Readers,

The club I am referring to is the “Overpoweringly compelling Old Peoples’ Savers Club”, and I am talking about me here, but I bet that I am also talking about a large proportion of the people who will be reading my words today.  I am wondering just how many LPG readers and bloggers are a part of this not so exclusive club.  Like me all the members are in the prime of life and still putting away things and saving them for some special occasion that may never happen.

I am sure that most of us own at least one item that validates our membership; some bright new thing we bought last century in preparation for an event that we are still sure will occur with time.   The years have become decades and most things have become antiques, but we still feel inclined to save them for future use and feel reluctant to part with them.  I defy any lady to not have at least one outfit that fits in to this category even if it no longer actually fits her, and please don’t ask me to count the new innovative projects that I bought tools for which subsequently got shelved along with the whole idea.

Of course, the answer is the spring clean, but the reality is usually that every year the said item comes to the top of the sorting pile and then, after much mental struggling, gets put away again just in case the occasion, project or event becomes reality next year.

I am assuming that most of your readers can relate to this article and smile to themselves knowing it’s the truth.

I will leave you with that in mind.

Rudy Morgan.

LPG found a list of such items which might just jog a memory or two…
