Letting the sun work its magic…

09 Jun 2022

Dear LPG readers,

Spring is well underway again and a March 2022 week of better weather must have helped a few of us feel a little better this year even though since then the weather has been pretty changeable overall.

However down we feel, somehow seeing the beginnings of a bright sunny day through the curtains when you get up in the morning seems to impact the whole day in a positive way.

I remember feeling so much better when getting up to the prospect of a bright sunny day in preparation for a day’s work, even though I spent the whole day in an office after a long and repetitive journey.  But now, even though I count myself as one of the older people who are a lot less likely to have to get up and out first thing in the mornings, there is something special about looking up and seeing that yellow glow.

I really want to remind LPG readers not to waste those bright beginnings to the day.  Perhaps now is the time to revisit the things that you planned to start at the beginning of the year, and that didn’t quite gather momentum back then.  My recommendation is that a bright sunny morning might just be a really good time to pick one and get going if it did not quite go right last time.

We are approaching that time of year when the sun is offering us warmer weather even if we stop looking at it through the window of a nice warm bedroom or sitting room, so my advice is turn off the SAD lights, invest in some sunscreen and a sun hat, and get out there a bit.

I know that there is a lot written on the internet about the positive effects that its UV and other rays can have on our well-being, and I also know that there are some negative ones to be taken into consideration too but, after two years of avoiding it as part of a world-wide strategy to avert the spread of the pandemic, perhaps it is time to really let it work its magic again…
