Serious breakfast for one (two, or even three) every now and then…

05 Aug 2022

Dear LPG,

If you live on your own and you are getting to that stage of life when you really don’t have to rush around first thing in the mornings, it is very easy to get a tad lazy.  At least this is my experience, and after a couple of years when we have all been forced to stay at home, I suspect that there are many of us who have neglected our digestive systems when it comes to providing something interesting for it to feast upon when you get up and ready for the day.

There are so many schools of thought when it comes to the first meal of the day.  I suppose it all comes down to how you feel when you open your eyes in the mornings.  I know that there are days when I have problems just thinking about getting out of bed without speculating on the complications and time needed to prepare a feast for your stomach.

We all know that you cannot go wrong with a bowl of good old fashioned porridge oats or a couple of eggs and a bit of toast, and then there are the days when just getting the kettle on for a cup of coffee or tea is a challenge, but perhaps we should indulge ourselves just a little more than that every now and then.

I have found a few healthy options but also a few that really were not put together with health in mind and, variety being the spice of life, I have decided that mixing the calorific, health, and enjoyment value in the hope that I might inspire a few readers to up their breakfast game every now and then as it might do us all a bit of good just occasionally.  Offering your stomach, a bit of the good and the bad could improve your whole outlook on the day that you go to town, and there must be an even bigger sense of expectation if you give yourself a few days to truly anticipate the meal …

So, I have looked online and found a few links to each type of breakfast starter in the hope that putting them all in one place might inspire a few readers to get up with a plan to make life more interesting for those early morning taste buds.
