Dear LPG, 

One thing that I think we have all learned by the time we get to an age which makes these pages particularly relevant, is that we have seen a lot, done a lot and lived through a lot… 

We often find it difficult to recall all the details although the general direction in which our lives have gone can be less of a challenge.  

The media is quite focused on how downbeat the general history and way forward is for our world and perhaps that is a reflection of the way that many of the individuals in it feel.  So much is said about the negative aspects of international news when we listen, read, access or watch any aspect of it each day which can only be a reflection of all the difficulties to come.  

In our personal lives we so often turn our attention on the sadder highlights more readily than those happy events that have also occurred, and that can also be reflected when we shift our gaze 180 degrees and speculate on the future.   

My poem today attempts to at least get us looking at the fact that we need to look ahead and see an adventure rather than more of the same.  After all who knows what is going to happen next? 

WHATEVER

Whatever is to be, will be revealed eventually

Wherever I am to go, sooner or later I will know

As I make my way through life, avoiding anger, hatred and strife

Whatever lies before me, I can only wait and see

Whoever speaks against me, pressing their partiality

Will one day face the music, for being a boring critic

Whatever look is given, whatever words are spoken,

Will never bring me down, though I may moan or frown

Whatever… yes, whatever. This may seem strange, however;

I must be hopeful, instead of being sorrowful

Whoever reads these words, this poem may seem absurd;

And if you’re feeling hurt, may God bless your heart

Let me say once more, as I have stressed before:

Whatever will be will be, wait and see my friend…

Wait and see.
