Versed thoughts (chapter 81): Betrayed
21 Jul 2025
Dear LPG,
I hope that most of your readers have read some of my more upbeat poems so that they know that I don’t only rhyme about doom and gloom. But these things happen to us all and there is nothing harder to get over than the realisation that someone you know has cheated you in some way, no matter the reason or way that they have behaved.
The worst thing is that the people you trust and care about most are nearly always in the best position to affect you in this way and they are also the ones whose betrayal hurts the most.
I hope that while this poem might well trigger memories of your own experiences, being reminded of the cruel effects of betrayal might help those who read it to empathise with those around them who might be going through such pain at this moment in time.
BETRAYED
Betrayed by love, I’ve been let down,
That is why I’m wearing a frown.
I fell in love, with love so true,
But love has hurt me through and through.
Betrayed by love; how could I win?
I was so thrilled when love stepped in.
It made me laugh and weep and sing,
To me true love was everything.
Betrayed by love, betrayed, betrayed;
That is why I’m so afraid.
Now every day I weep and mourn,
All because love has let me down.
Betrayed by love, betrayed, betrayed;
Once again I’ve been betrayed.
I’m feeling anxious and forlorn,
Since the one I loved so much is gone….
