Versed thoughts (chapter 85): Lucky You
17 Oct 2025
Dear LPG,
Did you know that cats are the second most popular pet in the UK? If you have one, don’t you sometimes look at their daily lives (as much as you can) and think they are not doing too badly?
While the RSPCA does need to assist some of them, for the most part, when you consider the daily routine of a cat, they seem to lead a quite charmed life. I must say that I am of the opinion that if I had to be an animal, a cat’s life would suit me.
It was this thought that inspired the poem that I want to share today…
Lucky You
Lucky the pussycat sits on the highest spots in the garden with great pride.
The sun is out and he is more than pleased about such an easy lifestyle;
“Now that I’ve had my breakfast, I can spend some quality time to groom myself, as I can relax up here on the roof of the garden shed and observe all that is going on in all the gardens.
I can rest easily, sleep, spy on other cats and dogs, and see what they and their owners get up to, and this is how it should be; O Lucky Me!
I am very proud and happy to be laughing here on this high and lofty place, grooming myself as I bask in the sunshine at the breaking of day.
Soon it will be time for lunch! …yum YUM!
O yes, you are living it up, there is no doubt about that!”
“Lucky you!” replied the neighbour’s cat, who came out to join his friend….
“Yes, Lucky Me… and that’s my name!”
