What To Eat In Summer?

17 Jul 2017

We all have heard that it is very important to drink lots of water during the summer, especially when it is very hot. However, some people don’t realise how important it is to follow a special summer diet too. This diet has to consist of light and healthy food that ensure a cool mind and body.

Light food that can be digested easily should be preferred. That’s why oily and junk food like pizzas, burgers, and fried chicken should be avoided. Instead, you can have roasted or grilled fish that have high amounts of fatty acids, helping in regulating blood pressure.

You should also work more veggies into your diet. If you’re going to make a sandwich, why don’t you add some avocado? If you re cooking meat, have peppers, onion, garlic and tomatoes as the topping. The possibilities are endless. You just have to use your imagination to work out new ways to add veggies to your meals. Cucumber, tomatoes, green beans, pumpkin and celery are just some of the veggies that should be included in your Summer diet.

However, this is not always easy. Summer barbeques are one of the reasons why sometimes eating the right food in summer is difficult. It doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy a summer BBQ with your friends and relatives, it just means that you have to take some precautions. For instance, before having your first portion of meat, have some fruits and salad and choose raw veggies over chips. Once you feel you’re full, beat the temptation and stop eating.

Finally, don’t forget the fruit! Add your favourite berries to your morning outmeal and choose watermelon for dessert instead of ice cream. Summer is the season to enjoy but always keep in mind that the key is moderation.
